Techniques for Building a Solid Customer Base through Content Creation

Creating a solid customer base is what everyone wants. However, a very few are ready to put in the effort that it takes to build a solid customer base. Here we will discuss the techniques that will help us build a solid customer base through content creation.

  • Keep Giving Away
    This is the real secret, keep giving away some real knowledge of the are you are the expert of, without expecting instant rewards or customer loyalty. It takes time for your customer base to develop, what will really make a difference is the authentic knowledge that you share. If we just share the things that are obvious it does not help your customers or prospects, what you share has to be genuine and should come out of a passion to help the community or the specific set segment that you choose to address.  
  • Create, Break and Distribute
    Start with creating a long content form, it could be a blog or an article or even a long video that covers specific expertise that you wish to give away to your customers. Once this is done, it should be broken down into smaller pieces of content and be modified. These modifications will be for various social media and content distribution channels some support long-form and some will support image with a link while some other will support smaller videos. Hence, break your content down and create several snippets and smaller versions to use in different channels and as teasers for some of those channels.
  • Analyse Content
    The often-ignored piece in content creation battle is analysing and listening to your audience. Create a calendar to deep dive and understand every reaction on the content you have created. The idea is to eventually find out what resonates more with your audience so you can further drill down on those aspects and create more meaningful content for your audiences and this can only happen if you listen to the audience and analyse your content regularly.
  • Maintain Your Personality
    There may be several other content producers as well that work in your area of expertise. However every individual or business needs to create a personality of their own that should be easily recognisable. Here are some ways of maintaining this brand personality.

 

 

 

      1. Use Consistent Titles: Your content titles can have some consistency and one can always keep numbering them, it gives users an idea that you have been evolving yet consistent.
      2. Maintain Visual Style: Create a visual style of your own and make versions of it for text, video and images and so on further maintain it across your communication channels. Creating recall takes time, however once done, it is a really powerful tool. Even if you need to make changes, make it subtle and evolve gradually instead of making drastic changes that your customers might not recall. Visual style covers colours, fonts, graphics and so on.
      3. Presentation Style: Maintain your unique presentation style and extend it to all forms of communication. Every brand should stand for specific values and brand personality should be maintained.

 

  • Be Consistent
    Last but a critical component is to be consistent with your content creation, create a calendar of your content headers/ pillars and make a list under each of those content pillars. Further, get the content created in advance, get it approved if needed and schedule for rollout. Being consistent is half the battle won.
